Understanding the Aging Process
It’s a part of life — our skin changes as we age. It becomes thinner, loses fat, and no longer looks as plump and smooth as it once did. Facial aging actually begins in your 20s, when skin firmness begins to decrease as a result of both internal (genetics and natural aging) and external (sun exposure, smoking, pollution, sleeping positions, etc.) factors.
What happens as we age?
- Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps provide fullness and elasticity
- Hyaluronic acid diminishes as we age, causing skin to lose volume while increasing the chances for wrinkles and folds to appear

Restylane®, Restylane® Defyne, Restylane®Refyne, Restylane®Lift, can be used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).
Restylane®,Restylane® Kisse and Restylane Silk® may also be used for lip enhancement in patients over 21 years.

The Divine Proportion—an artist’s vision of beauty
For centuries, artists have used the Divine Proportion to create harmony and balance. For lips, it translates into a guideline that the upper lip should be about 40% of the total height of the lips, and the bottom lip should be about 60%. Dr. Manrique uses these proportions for her state of the art designed lips!
How long does treatment usually take?
The injection process generally takes only about 30 minutes. You’ll also need to allow time to consult with your Dr. Manrique prior to treatment to set up your goals.
How painful is a Restylane® treatment?
Restylane® procedure usually causes minimum discomfort. Dr. Manrique uses topical numbing cream to make the injection as comfortable as possible.
When will I see results?
You can see the results immediately after the treatment
How long do results last?
Results can last for up to 6 to 9 months, although they will vary depending on each patient skin condition before the treatment.
What are the side effects and downtime?
Side effects are usually minimal following Restylane® treatment. The most common side effects include redness, swelling, and bruising around the injection sites; however, these should be temporary effects that disappear within a few days.
There is usually no downtime following a Restylane® treatment. The patient can immediately resume their everyday activities after leaving the office.
