PRP Facelift

Be yourself with the most natural approach in face rejuvenation!

PRP facelift has been a very important tool in skin rejuvenation for a long time in Europe. Now is becoming more popular in USA.

PRP therapy has been used extensively by sports medicine physicians and orthopedic surgeons for over 20 years. More recently there has been much excitement around the use of PRP for a number of aesthetic conditions. PRP is a non-surgical procedure that treats volume loss, wrinkles and improves the texture of the skin. Dr. Manrique uses Selphyl® PRFM the next generation PRP. Platelet- Rich Fibrin Matrix, Next Generation PRP is used for the face, neck, hand and body, and is becoming the latest trend in facial rejuvenation, known as PRP facial rejuvenation or PRP facelift. It is thought that PRFM addresses the cause of skin aging by stimulating the production of new collagen.

What is PRP?

PRP, by definition refers to platelets in plasma, where the platelet concentration is generally considered to be twice the normal concentration in whole blood. The platelets are rich in growth factors that will repair the skin, stimulating the production of collagen in the following weeks after the treatment.

What is Selphyl® PRFM?

The Selphyl® System is designed for the safe and rapid preparation of Platelet-rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) from a small sample of blood. Many PRP systems have varying results and have extensive contamination with red blood cells and white blood cells. Selphyl® removes virtually all contaminating cells and is independent of operator technique. PRP is converted to PRFM through a controlled process, creating a scaffold that serves to protect and preserve platelets. Think of Selphyl® PRFM as the next generation PRP.

How is Selphyl® Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) different?

The Selphyl® System is a completely closed system and can convert PRP to PRFM which initiates the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin. The fibrin matrix serves as a three dimensional scaffold to maintain the platelets at the site of injection. The scaffold also serves to protect the platelets so their release of growth factors can be sustained over a longer period of time.

It can be used for a natural approach to volumizing and to:

  • Repair aged and sun-damaged skin
  • Diminish fine lines and wrinkles
  • Diminish the vertical lip lines (“bar code lines”)
  • Diminish crow’s feet
  • Reduce smile lines
  • Reduce the crepey skin under the eyes and neck
  • Diminish acne scarring
  • Diminish burn scarring
  • Reduce the appearance of stretch marks

What to expect?

First, a small amount of blood is drawn from your arm and spun in a centrifuge until the red blood cells separate from the platelets and plasma. The Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix is then injected back into your troublesome areas to help soften, smooth and tighten your skin. Immediate swelling and redness is what you will see first. Over a few weeks, the platelets will stimulate the growth factors to increase collagen production. Collagen rejuvenation can take from 6 weeks on depending on the starting condition of your skin and your lifestyle habits. Your procedure should take no longer than 60 minutes.

When will I see results?

Results are visible by 4 to 6 weeks and progressively improve over the coming months with improvement in skin texture, tone and elasticity. Proper skin care and maintenance, inclusive of light therapies can augment the results.

How does PRFM differ from other fillers?

PRFM does not contain any animal or synthetic components, so there is not risk of allergic reaction. PRFM is an anti-aging treatment to make your skin appear softer and less wrinkled. It offers natural and lasting effects.
