Crepey and Sagging Skin

Paper-thin skin or crepey skin. Crepey skin is one of the most difficult signs of skin aging to prevent because it has so many different causes and can occur on so many different parts of the body. Once you reach your 40s, skin thinning accelerates over the course of months or years but it can start as early as in your twenties.

The transformation occurs as the body slows down its production of elastin and collagen, the proteins that allow skin to stretch and contract. And while aging skin is inevitable, there are a few factors that can cause a skin to become premature creepy:

  • Sun exposure
  • Smoking
  • Fluctuation in weight
  • Hormonal changes as lack of estrogen.
  • Chronic use of steroids.

How to improve saggy and crepey skin:

Dr. Manrique strongly believes in prevention. Applying daily sunscreen and moisturizer, hydroxy acid or glycolic acid can help your skin cells retain moisture and retain their plumpness. They help to get rid of dead skin cells, allowing newer, plumper cells to make their way to the surface and also hydrate skin while repairing collagen and elastin. Dr. Manrique’s skin care line will help you to prevent and improve the earlier signs of aging skin.
We strongly recommend early treatments with PRP or platelet rich plasma. It is a minimally invasive treatment that keeps your skin engaged in collagen and elastin production not allowing your skin to reach a point of no return.

Infini RF, PDO threads, and Micro-needling or collagen induction therapy can help improve the appearance of crepey, sagging or loose skin, giving your skin a smoother and younger look while increasing the production of collagen and elastin.  All these techniques are in Dr. Manrique’s toolbox to help your skin.

After a consultation, Dr. Manrique designs the best treatment for each patient. Usually, several techniques are combined to achieve the best results.
